BAIL INFORMATION
The process of posting bail for someone involved in a courtcase with the Municipal Court is one
that is made complicated for two reasons, one being it's a legal procedure that has certain
requirements to ensure that the needs of both the individual and society at large are served,
and the other is that the majority of the people going through it are going through the process
for the first time.
The Clerk of Court's Office has put together the following brochure to explain some of the
concepts involved with posting bail and to try to answer a few of the questions you may have
regarding the bail process.
One note: When cases are bound over from the Municipal Court to the Franklin County Court of
Common Pleas, once they are transferred to the Common Pleas docket, the rules regarding bail
established by that Court apply. Please contact the Clerk of Court for the Court of Common
Pleas regarding their policies and practices on Bail.
